From Melbourne to Brisbane, we’ve selected some of the most spectacular motorcycle roads in Australia. Starting from Melbourne, you’ll ride along winding roads towards Mallacoota before following the wild coastline north to Batemans Bay and Jervis Bay, famous for its pristine white-sand beaches.

Experience the ultimate motorcycle adventure along the legendary roads of Australia’s East Coast.

After a stop in Sydney, discover the twisting mountain roads of the Blue Mountains before returning to the coast towards Nelson Bay and Nambucca Heads, where rainforest meets the ocean. The journey then continues to the legendary surf destination of Byron Bay before heading inland towards Ipswich. The final stages take you through the scenic mountain roads of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, from Montville to Brisbane, the final stop of this unforgettable motorcycle journey across the stunning landscapes of Australia’s East Coast.

Day 1

Departure on your international flight to Melbourne, the cultural capital of Australia, where street art, trendy cafés and hidden laneways create a unique atmosphere.

Day 2 : Melbourne/Port Albert - 240 km

Your adventure begins in Melbourne, where you’ll collect your motorcycles before heading towards Port Albert. The road takes you through the majestic Tarra Valley, where winding roads weave beneath the dense canopy of an ancient rainforest. This first stage already offers a perfect introduction to Australia’s natural beauty: giant tree ferns lining the roadside, towering eucalyptus trees reaching skyward and refreshing cool air beneath the forest cover.

The technical bends of Tarra Valley Road immediately put your riding skills to the test, while panoramic openings over the valley provide a glimpse of the spectacular scenery awaiting you throughout the journey. Upon arrival, discover the historic charm of Port Albert, the oldest port in Victoria, with its old fishermen’s cottages and preserved maritime atmosphere.

Day 3 : Port Albert/Mellacoota - 373 km

You’ll continue your journey towards Mallacoota, following the spectacular stretch of road along Ninety Mile Beach towards Golden Beach.
This scenic route runs alongside one of the world’s longest uninterrupted beaches, offering a unique riding experience between the ocean and the Australian bush. Upon arrival in Mallacoota, discover its stunning wild estuary, home to abundant wildlife where Kangaroos are often seen grazing at sunset.

Day 4 : Mellacoota/Batemans Bay - 280 km

Then continue towards Batemans Bay. Leaving Mallacoota behind, you’ll ride through the rolling landscapes of southern New South Wales towards Pambula. From there, the route follows the spectacular coastal road along the famous Sapphire Coast.

This legendary stretch winds between dramatic cliffs and the ocean, offering incredible riding conditions and breathtaking views over wild coves and untouched beaches. Scenic stops in Tathra and Bermagui may even allow you to spot migrating whales depending on the season. The day ends in the charming seaside town of Batemans Bay, nestled along a beautiful crystal-clear estuary.

Day 5 : Batemans Bay/Syndey - 281 km

Via Jervis Bay (281 km): The coastal route takes you through a succession of national parks towards Jervis Bay, famous for having some of the whitest sand beaches in the world, almost glowing under the moonlight. You’ll then follow the spectacular Grand Pacific Drive, crossing the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge suspended above the ocean, before arriving in Sydney.

Via Canberra (400 km) : This inland alternative reveals a completely different side of Australia. The winding roads through the hills of the Southern Highlands provide an enjoyable and dynamic ride before reaching the Australian capital, Canberra. From there, the route descends towards Sydney through the wide-open countryside of New South Wales.

Day 6 : Sydney

Free day in Sydney, Australia’s most iconic city. Start with a stroll through The Rocks, the historic heart of the city, before heading to Circular Quay to admire Sydney’s two world-famous landmarks: the Sydney Opera House and the majestic Sydney Harbour Bridge. For the more adventurous, the famous BridgeClimb offers unforgettable panoramic views over the harbour.

You can then take the ferry to Manly, one of the most scenic crossings in the city, or choose the legendary coastal walk from Bondi Beach to Bronte, following dramatic cliffs and iconic surf beaches.

For lunch, head towards Darling Harbour and its waterfront restaurants, or explore the trendy neighbourhood of Surry Hills to discover Sydney’s vibrant food scene. Take time to relax in the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden Sydney as well. At the end of the day, enjoy dinner in the lively district of Kings Cross or watch the sunset from Observatory Hill Park with panoramic views over the illuminated harbour bridge.

Day 7 : Sydney/Blue Mountains - 240 km

Set off towards the Blue Mountains and immerse yourself in a world of dramatic cliffs, misty forests and winding mountain roads. As you climb in altitude, the curves become more technical, leading you through charming villages and scenic landscapes until you reach the plateau overlooking the spectacular Jamison Valley. Here stand the famous Three Sisters, the iconic rock formations dominating the valley below.

Follow the panoramic Cliff Drive for breathtaking views across endless eucalyptus forests. Stop at Echo Point Lookout to admire the immense scenery, or take a break in the charming village of Leura with its cosy cafés and artisan boutiques. You’ll then continue riding towards the fertile Hawkesbury Valley, where the winding roads descend towards the peaceful Hawkesbury River.

Day 8 : Blue Mountains/Nelson Bay - 280 km

Head back towards the coast through the magnificent winding roads of the Hunter Valley, where endless vineyards stretch across the rolling hills. The route then opens onto Port Stephens, often nicknamed the “land of dolphins”, before arriving in Nelson Bay. As the coastal curves unfold, the beauty of this bay, twice the size of Sydney Harbour, gradually reveals itself through spectacular scenery of giant sand dunes, hidden coves and turquoise waters.

The final kilometres along the coast offer a constant panorama between the ocean and the Australian bush, making this stage one of the most scenic rides of the journey.

Day 9 : Nelson Bay/Nambucca Heads - 420 km

A major stage of the journey awaits today, crossing the lush heart of New South Wales. Leaving Nelson Bay behind, you’ll ride inland towards Gloucester, where winding roads weave through the foothills of the spectacular Barrington Tops.

The ride through Wingham delivers a succession of technical bends surrounded by rolling countryside and forest-covered hills. Via Byabarra, you’ll experience one of the region’s finest motorcycle roads, with beautifully flowing curves and constantly changing scenery. The route then gradually descends back towards the coastline, bringing you once again to the ocean and the relaxed atmosphere of Nambucca Heads.

Day 10 : Nambucca Heads/Byron Bay - 360 km

On the way to Byron Bay, you’ll ride along sections of the legendary Pacific Highway, combined with spectacular scenic detours. Crossing Dorrigo National Park immerses you in lush subtropical rainforest, where winding roads flow beneath a dense green canopy. The route passes near Nymboida before reaching Grafton, famous for its magnificent purple jacaranda trees during blooming season. The road then continues to weave between the ocean and the forest before arriving in Byron Bay, the easternmost point of the Australian continent.

Day 11 : Byron Bay/Ipswich - 280 km

Leaving behind the laid-back atmosphere of Byron Bay, you’ll ride north into Queensland towards Ipswich. The road gradually leaves the coastline behind and heads deep into the Australian hinterland. The scenery transforms into rolling hills, open farmland and wide rural landscapes typical of inland Queensland. Bypassing the bustle of Brisbane from the west, you’ll pass through historic country towns reflecting Australia’s pioneering past.

With its Victorian architecture and leafy parks, Ipswich offers a peaceful stop before the final stage towards Montville the following day.

Day 12 : Ipswich/Monteville - 210 km

A day filled with spectacular curves and mountain roads awaits on the way to Montville. The ride begins near Split Yard Creek and its rolling landscapes before reaching the winding roads of Mount Glorious, a true paradise for motorcyclists with its succession of technical bends beneath lush subtropical forest.

A stop in the charming Samford Village offers a relaxing break in a postcard-perfect Australian setting. Crossing D'Aguilar National Park reveals breathtaking panoramas before the iconic silhouettes of the Glass House Mountains appear in the distance, rising dramatically from the surrounding plains.

Arrival in Montville, perched high in the Blackall Range, is the perfect finale to this unforgettable riding day. This charming artist village, with its European-style atmosphere, cosy cafés and picturesque boutiques, offers stunning views over the Sunshine Coast.

Day 13 : Monteville/Brisbane - 100 km

You’ll begin the final stage of your journey towards Brisbane. Once in the capital of Queensland, several must-see locations await. Start in the lively district of South Bank Parklands, a true urban oasis featuring lush gardens and the famous Streets Beach artificial lagoon. Cross the Brisbane River via the modern Kurilpa Bridge to reach the CBD, then head up the historic Brisbane City Hall for panoramic city views from its clock tower.

For lunch, make your way to Howard Smith Wharves, former docks transformed into one of Brisbane’s trendiest waterfront spots beneath the iconic Story Bridge. In the afternoon, explore the bohemian atmosphere of Fortitude Valley, known for its vintage boutiques and live music scene, or enjoy a relaxing cruise along the river aboard a CityCat.
