The return journey to Alice Springs follows the remote tracks of the Outback, offering a true 4×4 adventure deep in the authenticity of the Australian bush. Day 1 : Alice Springs
Departure on your domestic flight to Alice Springs, an isolated town in the heart of the Australian desert and the true gateway to the Outback, renowned for its rich Aboriginal culture.

Day 2 : Alice Springs/Uluru - 446 km
Leaving Alice Springs behind, your adventure begins with a detour to Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve, where the first light of day illuminates the colourful sandstone cliffs and layered rock formations.
The journey then continues through the vast red landscapes of the Outback towards the impressive Mount Conner. From a distance, many travellers mistake it for Uluru, but the famous sacred monolith lies a little further ahead. As the day comes to an end, its ancient rock faces gradually glow with the fiery colours of sunset, revealing the true magic of the Australian desert.

Day 3 : Uluru
In the afternoon, head towards Kata Tjuta, located around 50 km away. This impressive group of 36 massive rock domes offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the Australian Outback.
Several hiking options are available, ranging from easy walks to more adventurous trails winding between these giant rock formations and leading to breathtaking viewpoints over the surrounding desert landscapes.
At the end of the day, settle into one of the viewing areas to admire the sunset as the rock formations gradually transform from ochre tones to glowing shades of fiery orange. For an even more magical evening, consider visiting Field of Light, the stunning art installation created by Bruce Munro, where more than 50,000 illuminated stems gently sway across the desert under the night sky.

Day 4 : Uluru/Kings Canyon - 320 km
Enjoy one last moment in Yulara before hitting the road again in the middle of the afternoon towards Petermann. This stop is ideally located for starting your exploration of Kings Canyon early the next morning, where towering cliffs rise more than 100 metres above the canyon floor.

Day 5 : Kings Canyon/Alice Springs - 355 km
Set off at sunrise to explore the majestic Kings Canyon, when the cooler morning temperatures make hiking far more enjoyable. For adventurous travellers, the famous Rim Walk (6 km) offers an unforgettable experience. After the steep initial climb known as “Heart Attack Hill”, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views from the top of the 100-metre cliffs overlooking the canyon and the lush Garden of Eden oasis hidden deep below.
Your adventure then continues along the legendary Mereenie Loop, a remote 150-kilometre outback track where you may even encounter wild horses roaming freely across the desert. Along the way, make an impressive stop at Gosses Bluff, known as Tnorala to Aboriginal communities, a meteorite impact crater dating back 142 million years, before reaching the spectacular Glen Helen Gorge.
This incredible day of contrasting landscapes concludes with your return to Alice Springs.
