Want to Know More?

You’re about to embark on a truly unique horseback adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Botswana. To help you prepare for your safari, we’ve put together answers to the questions we’re most frequently asked.

  • What level of riding experience is required?

For this horseback safari, riders should have an intermediate to advanced level of experience. You should be confident riding independently at all paces, including when separated from the rest of the group.

Being comfortable crossing natural obstacles is an advantage, although it is not essential, as most obstacles can be bypassed. You should also be able to maintain a balanced riding position at the canter for extended periods.

  • How are the horses assigned?

Before each safari, every rider takes part in a short riding assessment to ensure they meet the required experience level and the criteria outlined above.

The assessment allows our guides to evaluate your ability to ride confidently at all gaits, maintain control of your horse both within and away from the group, and ultimately match you with the horse best suited to your riding style, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable week on safari.

  • How many kilometres will we ride each day?

You can expect to ride 20 to 30 kilometres (12–19 miles) per day, with a maximum of 5½ hours in the saddle each day.

  • What riding equipment should I bring?

You should bring your own riding clothing, along with your riding boots or paddock boots and half chaps. A pair of hiking shoes is also recommended for time spent off the horse.

You are welcome to bring your own riding helmet, but if you prefer to travel light, helmets are available to borrow on site.
